Cerritos Beach sits on the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur, about 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas. It's quieter than Cabo, less developed than Todos Santos, and more varied than its reputation as "just a surf beach" suggests. Whether you're here for the waves, the wildlife, or simply to do very little in a beautiful place, there's more on offer than most visitors expect.

Surf Cerritos Beach
Cerritos is one of Baja's most consistent surf breaks — a long, mellow right-hander that works for beginners and gives experienced surfers enough to work with. The wave breaks over a sandy bottom, which makes it forgiving, and the beach is wide enough that crowds rarely become an issue outside peak season. Lessons run about two hours including board, rashguard, umbrella, and beach chairs for the day. All levels are welcome.
Swim with Whale Sharks
Between October and April, whale sharks gather in the warm waters near La Paz, about 75 minutes from Cerritos. This is one of the few places in the world where you can swim alongside the largest fish on earth in the open ocean — not a tank, not a controlled environment. They're filter feeders and completely harmless. It's the kind of experience most guests say was the highlight of their entire trip.
Horseback Ride at Sunset
The stretch of beach north of Cerritos is long, flat, and almost entirely empty at golden hour. A sunset horseback ride along the waterline — with the Sierra de la Laguna mountains behind you and the Pacific ahead — is as cinematic as it sounds. No riding experience needed.
Go Deep-Sea Fishing
The waters off Baja are some of the most productive sport fishing in the world. Day trips out of nearby Todos Santos or Cabo can put you on yellowfin tuna, dorado, wahoo, and roosterfish depending on the season. Half-day and full-day charters can be arranged directly through us — we'll connect you with the right captain for what you're after.

Sometimes the best thing to do after a surf session or a long day of exploring is nothing at all — except perhaps a massage on your terrace. We work with experienced local therapists who come directly to your suite. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and include Swedish, deep tissue, and the Isabel Holistic treatment (hot stones, crystals, and aromatherapy). Reserve 24 hours in advance.
Dine with a Private Chef
One of the most popular add-ons for guests staying at Luna Del Mar is a private chef dinner. A local chef comes to the property, prepares a multi-course meal using fresh regional ingredients — often including the day's catch if you've been fishing — and serves it at your outdoor table under the palapa. It's included in the Surf Boot Camp package, and available as a standalone experience for any stay.
Explore Todos Santos
The pueblo mágico of Todos Santos is 20 minutes up the coast — a small colonial town with a surprisingly good art gallery scene, excellent restaurants, and one of Baja's most famous hotels (Hotel California). It's an easy afternoon trip and a different side of Baja from the beach life at Cerritos. The Thursday farmers market is worth timing a visit around.
Watch for Whales from the Shore
From January through March, grey whales and humpbacks migrate along the Pacific coast and are frequently visible from the beach directly in front of Luna Del Mar. No boat required — just a coffee on your terrace in the morning and a bit of patience.
